"This article gives details about the annual International Higher Education Exposition to be held in Saudi Arabia in April and outlines its importance for the teaching community."
The time has once again come for the annual International Exhibition and Conference in the kingdom. This is by far the biggest and the largest conference and exhibition in the Middle East, exclusively for Higher Education.
An event which started off as a modest attempt five years ago has now grown by leaps and bounds to become such a runaway success. This year’s international expo is scheduled to be held from April 15th to 18th in Riyadh. The event is sponsored by the Saudi Government’s Ministry of Education.
From Argentina to Japan, Denmark to Australia, the number of Universities participating in this exhibition is growing exponentially each year. 26 universities from the US, 18 from Canada and 12 from the UK are among the 227 universities participating in this year’s event. Apart from this, scores of training institutes are also setting up their stalls. Students desirous of seeking admission in various universities, potential teachers seeking job opportunities, educationists seeking to network fellow professors all come under one roof during the event. This is a fine opportunity to meet each other face to face.
Each year, scores of potential teachers get themselves introduced with their peers in this expo. Informal and formal meetings are held and many consider this as a very useful opportunity to pursue their career options. It is not just students and potential job-seekers who come to this expo. Those teachers who want to pursue their specializations in post-graduation and post-doctoral research also get to meet their professors directly.
The expo this year features speeches by eminent personalities – from Vice Chancellors of universities to Deans to Nobel Laureates – they are all there. A large number of workshops are being planned this year. Last year’s expo had 84 workshops and more than 440 international and local exhibitors.
The exhibition will be held in a huge area of 158000 square feet complex which would house participants from over 34 countries. From Cambridge to Harvard, the list of Universities and their faculty participating in this event appears like a Who-is-Who of the global higher education.
Participating teachers get an opportunity to network and open up their channels for greater heights in their career. Each year, a large number of jobs are offered on the spot by the top brass of top-notch universities and hence, this event is much more than just a conference. 63 universities from Saudi Arabia alone and 388 from across the world participated in last year’s event. The workshops in this event provide knowledge on specialized skill sets which aspiring teachers and students would find extremely useful.
This is one expo which potential teachers and students must not give a miss. For those interested, visit the conference website http://www.ieche.com.sa/en/. For visa requirements, get in touch with the organizers of this event directly who will gladly be of assistance to you.
